Chamber Services: Chamber Blog

June 11, 2008

Wednesday, June 11
Tomorrow is going to be a banner day for the LINK. Tomorrow, we graduate our first class from Leadership Lowndes County(LLC). This group of leaders has been together for the past 10 months and has studied such issues as Healthcare, Local Government and Education as they pertain to Lowndes County. They have worked hard and deserve many congratulations. Good job guys! After graduation, we have our monthly Business After Hours (BAH). This is always a great event and is well attended. It’s a wonderful way to network and help you and your business grow. Immediately following BAH, we are kicking off a brand new program called “The Sounds of Summer”. This is a series of outdoor concerts at the Riverwalk. There will be food and beverages for purchase and everyone should bring a blanket to throw on the ground. It should be a great way to cap off the day. Running from one event to the next – it’s what chamber is all about!

LINK'd Premier Event

Wednesday, June 04
WOW! That is exactly the right word to describe the premiere of “Link’d”, our new networking program designed for young professionals ages 21-40. The first event was held last night at the Back Door restaurant in downtown Columbus. This program is a project of Leadership Lowndes County and will become a part of the LINK when the class graduates later this month. We had been promoting it heavily and had no idea how many people to expect. We needn’t have worried because the turnout was wonderful, especially for the first time. There were well over 65 people in attendance – which speaks volumes about how much something like this is needed in Lowndes County. The night was warm, the beverages were cold, the food was yummy, and the soft tunes were just the right touch. Many thanks go to the sponsors – Front Door/Back Door; Wag; Malachi Financial, Brice Miller Productions; Cash Distributing; 45 Package Store. We raised over $650 for the Columbus Lowndes County Humane Society and they got lots of much needed supplies, as well. Today we will begin to build a database of names and start communicating and promoting the next event. Keep your ears and eyes tuned for the time and date. It will be an educational event - a luncheon and will be at the Columbus Country Club.

Greetings from your Chamber of Commerce!
