Annual Meeting and Awards

A presentation of the highlights of the Link’s activities during the past year, and announce initiatives for the coming year. Business awards are presented and a noted speaker is featured.

Annual Education Excellence Banquet

A recognition banquet and award ceremony honoring outstanding students, grades 9-12, as well as awards to outstanding teachers, grades K-12. The Sgt. Steve King Outstanding Senior Award is also presented in the amount of $500.00.

Lowndes Young Leaders

A nine-month leadership program for high school sophomores and juniors. It is designed to develop an energetic and diverse group of informed and qualified young leaders who will become our business and community leaders of tomorrow.

Business After Hours Hours

Provides a venue to entertain your fellow Link members and exchange ideas and business cards while showcasing your own business at the same time. Call the Link office to receive information and guidance for this evening event held in January of each year.

Leadership Lowndes County

Leadership Lowndes County (LLC) is a program that is designed to educate current and emerging leaders about the pertinent issues facing Columbus and Lowndes County. The program involves nine day long sessions featuring topics such as healthcare, city and county government, economic development, etc. There will be opportunities to network with other business leaders while gaining a better knowledge of ways that you can strengthen Lowndes County.

LINK’d

LINK’d is a business networking organization for Young Professionals ages 21-40 in the Lowndes County area. There are monthly networking sessions, fundraisers and activities to strengthen these emerging leaders.

Golden Triangle Employment Expo

Annual Military and Civilian Job Fair held at the Trotter Convention Center each October. The expo is presented by industry, education, and government agencies in the Golden Triangle area. This is an excellent opportunity for companies to access a wide variety of job seekers including: military professionals leaving military service, students from two of the finest academic universities in the country which offer every discipline from teachers and nurses to business professionals, scientist and engineers. Outstanding community college, technical and vocational graduates, and local professionals interested in a career change or relocating will be attending.

“The Messiah” Production

The Messiah was written in the 1740’s by G. F. Handel. This event is sponsored by the Link’s Community Relations Committee and is held the first Tuesday of December at Annunciation Catholic Church, with performances at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The community is invited to participate in this event and it is free and open to the public. Tickets are available at the Link office.

Educator Awareness Day

The Columbus Municipal School District and the Lowndes County School District educator set aside a day for their for educators to visit Mississippi University for Women, to show first hand what the collegiate and career opportunities are available a the “W” and Columbus Air Force Base, to show what employment opportunities exist at CAFB and the Air Force. This is a two-year program where half of the educators will the “W” and the other half will visit CAFB. Next year, the locations will be reversed.

Salute to Industry

Recognizes and honors the Lowndes County manufacturing family in a social setting.

Economic Symposium

This forum keeps local industries and elected officials up to date on available incentives and legislative changes. The State economist provides a state of Lowndes County and State of Mississippi Economic overview. Local, state and federal agency representatives are on hand to share their programs and respond to requests for information.

Columbus Air Force Base Blaze Appreciation

Annual picnic sponsored by the Link’s Military Affairs Committee in appreciation of the Columbus Air Force Base filled with food, fun and entertainment.

Columbus Air Force Base Pilot Partner

This program unites each CAFB Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) class with businesses from the Columbus-Lowndes area and surrounding communities.
